Jennifer Powell, O.D.

Dr. Jennifer M. Powell was born in North Wilkesboro, NC, and resided there until graduating from Wilkes Central High School. She is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, where she majored in biology and chemistry. She completed four years at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis including internships in Nashville, TN, and at the VA Medical Center in Salisbury, NC. She has traveled with Student Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH) to Belize and twice to Costa Rica to perform eye exams for people in need. She also worked at NC Lions Foundation affiliated Camp Dogwood for the Blind and Visually Impaired located in Sherrills Ford, NC.
Dr. Powell practiced optometry at Patty Vision Center in Roxboro, NC from August 2006 until December 2010. She joined Academy Eye Associates in January 2011 & enjoys talking with patients who live in and around Durham to better understand their daily visual requirements. She enjoys seeing patients of any age; those requiring correction with glasses or contact lenses as well as those having the gift of good vision naturally. She is also capable of managing and treating ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, & diabetes.
Dr. Powell lives in Durham and enjoys exercising, trying new restaurants, and hanging out with her awesome husband Scott, adorable daughter Zola, & sweet cock-a-poo Roxy. She looks forward to building relationships with her patients in Durham while taking care of their eye health.
